Brain Matters is a student-run, university-published journal created by the Undergraduate Neuroscience Society (UNS) at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. The journal accepts papers and articles from undergraduates ranging across a diverse breadth of biological, psychological, and neurological topics, with special emphasis placed on the latter two. Written papers and articles are accepted for publication once the author has fulfilled the journal’s guidelines. Brain Matters strives to promote a neuroscience dialogue on campus, to compensate for the lack of a neuroscience major, as well as student networking and student research initiative.

Vol. 8 No. 2 (2025): Brain Matters

Brain Matters discusses all things neuroscience, psychology, and biology and features articles written by UIUC’s very own students. Our authors come from diverse backgrounds, such as computer science and engineering, but still have a passion for neurobiology. This diversity allows volumes to have a wide range of articles from neurotechnology to disease biology. The journal is mainly written for the college community yet is accessible to anyone as Brain Matters is uploaded as an Open Access Journal format by the University Library.
